Regulating/deregulating television
The Question: Since there is a high correlation between violence in children who watch violence on TV, should society try to regulate what children watch? Parents are not always around to limit TV from their children. Should society regulate Television so that only “G” rated programs are available?
I don't believe that society should try to regulate violence on television. At one point in time (the 1920s) it was almost necessary to regulate what was broadcasted considering there were few programs and families with children listened. If there was anything such as vulgar language, the broadcasting company would be fined. This is understandable, but only for the time period. Anymore, you have thousands of options in what you can watch, and you also have the option to personally regulate your own TV. Even though, some people are not able to do this, society shouldn't have to regulate everything. Every person has the choice to watch TV or not, and if people feel as though it's too violent, I don't believe they have to watch it.
